In our history class we are studying India and their caste system. In Ancient India the Ayrans separated India into social groups because they were easier to control. The four groups were called Varnas.
- Brahmins: The Brahmins were priests in India.
- Kshatriya: The Kshatriya were warriors and rulers.
- Vaisyas: The Vaisyas were common people.
- Sudras: Sudras were unskilled laborers and servants
There is another group lower than Sudras called Untouchables or Pariahs but they are not really considered a group. The Untouchables were a poor group of people that performed un-clean work. They were not allowed to touch other people of higher social class and had to walk three steps behind them.

I’m writing about the caste system for my history class assignment. The caste system is a social group that someone is born into and cannot leave it. The Aryans built the caste system. They built it to keep order and to separate people into groups based on and their skin color.
These are the four Varnas:
- Brahmins-The Brahmins are priests.
- Kshatriyas-The Kshatriyas are warriors or rulers.
- Vaisyas- The Vaisyas are common people.
- Sudras-The Sudras are unskilled laborers or servants.
There is a group called the Pariahs or the Untouchables. The Untouchables preformed unclean work and they were the lowest of the low. They also skin animals and handle the dead.
