TAG | Mespotamia

hammurabiHammurabi was a young man when he became king of Babylon. He was the son of Sinmurabi. His father was king of Babylon before Hammurabi was. Hammurabi turned Mespotamia from a small city-state into a large powerful state. Hammurabi also created the first laws.

He is considered a great ruler because he fought against his enemies for many years to take control over the river. Another reason is because he brought the other small city-states of Mespotamia under one rule. His codes covered crimes, farming, and business activities, marriage, and family. Almost everything alive.

One of Hammurabi’s laws that I do agree with is that if a man rents his boat to a sailor and the sailor wrecks the boat the sailor will have have to give the owner of the boat another boat. I agree with it because I think it’s fair that if he wrecked it and it’s not his he should have to give the owner a new one.

One law that I do not agree with is if a son strikes his father the son’s hands will be cut off. I disagree with this law because that is too cruel, and the son should be punished in a less violent way.
