We learned about ancient Israel and Its past History. Mr. Miller taught us about the Torah and Cannan the holy land of Israelites. We took notes for about two weeks. Then we made a Scribble Map shown below. These two weeks learning about Israel were fun.
Babylon · Bethleham · Cannan · Edgar · Temple Mount
Hammurabi was a young man when he became king of Babylon. He was the son of Sinmurabi. His father was king of Babylon before Hammurabi was. Hammurabi turned Mespotamia from a small city-state into a large powerful state. Hammurabi also created the first laws.
He is considered a great ruler because he fought against his enemies for many years to take control over the river. Another reason is because he brought the other small city-states of Mespotamia under one rule. His codes covered crimes, farming, and business activities, marriage, and family. Almost everything alive.
One of Hammurabi’s laws that I do agree with is that if a man rents his boat to a sailor and the sailor wrecks the boat the sailor will have have to give the owner of the boat another boat. I agree with it because I think it’s fair that if he wrecked it and it’s not his he should have to give the owner a new one.
One law that I do not agree with is if a son strikes his father the son’s hands will be cut off. I disagree with this law because that is too cruel, and the son should be punished in a less violent way.
